About Semaj
Background & Credentials:
Hey, I’m Semaj! I’m a fitness and nutrition coach with over 10 years of experience helping everyday people and athletes achieve their fat loss, muscle gain and performance goals. In addition to a degree in Exercise Science from the University of Connecticut, I have two nutrition coaching certifications from Renaissance Periodization and Precision Nutrition, and a personal training certification from NASM.
After managing corporate gyms and leading personal training departments for almost a decade, I shifted to focus on what I enjoy most: serving clients directly. I now offer all of my coaching services online, leveraging best practices from years of in-person training, to help people win with fitness all over the world.
Fun fact: I competed in Strongman as a middleweight competitor from 2013-2017, but have spent the last 5 or so years training for life as a business owner, long-term traveler and dad-epreneur. My athletic background and personal experience inform my approach as a coach: I help ambitious but busy people apply the strategies and the level of intensity that are best suited for them given their goals and context of their daily lives.
Coaching Philosophy:
I believe fitness is an act of stewardship. We’ve been given this body and this life, and it’s our responsibility to treat it well. But I also believe that change starts in the mind because what we believe drives our actions. If we want different results, we have to start by transforming how we think.
I believe in substance over aesthetics. The fitness space is full of curated content and people more focused on looking the part than doing the work. I’m committed to being straight-forward and focused on proven practices and measurable outcomes.
I believe the best results come from real relationships. I want my clients to feel understood and connected, like they can be open with me without judgment. That’s why I invest deeply in every client, helping them see their own patterns, strengths, and blind spots.
I don’t believe in hand-holding. All of my coaching programs offer a progression toward independence. I want my clients to learn to think for themselves. My job isn’t to give you all the answers, it’s to teach you how to problem-solve and make informed decisions.
